Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) was a German composer, organist, harpsichordist, and violinist of the Baroque era. He is considered one of the greatest composers in history and is widely regarded as the most influential of all composers in the Western tradition. His works include cantatas, concertos, suites, chorale preludes, fugues, and other forms of keyboard music. He also wrote many works for the lute and other instruments.
His church music includes many cantatas, arrangements of Lutheran chorales, Lutheran Masses as well as his famous B Minor Mass, and the St John and St Matthew Passions.
