Have You Heard The News Of Jesus (Have You Heard – 4 verses) – Organ

Lyrics – 4 verses

Suggested uses: Easter Sunday

Have you heard the news of Jesus,
How he came the lost to save;
Dying on the tree of vict’ry
Overcoming death and grave?

Now we celebrate that Vict’ry
On this glorious Easter Day!
Praising Christ, the blessed Saviour,
He’s the Truth, the life, the Way.

Praise Him now, in celebration
Of His vict’ry over sin;
He has overcome the darkness,
Letting light come flooding in.

Lift your voices now in worship
On this sacred Day of Days:
Glorify our blesséd Saviour,
Sing in everlasting praise!

When The Starlight Fades To Amber (Volga, Volga Mat’ Rodnaya) – Small Band

Lyrics ~ 4 verses

Meter 87 87

When the starlight fades to amber
And the dawn proclaims the hour,
We will seek life’s new adventures
In God’s loving care and power.

And bright shining holy Father,
Make us children of the sun,
To help and care for others
Like your own beloved Son.

For the earth is like a mother
Who gives us life and health,
We must care for her and nurture
The nature that’s her wealth.

When the fun and games are over
And our toys are put away,
We know it’s time to pray now
Giving you thanks for a perfect day.

In the quiet consecration (Agape) – Organ

Lyrics

In the quiet consecration
Of this glad communion hour,
Here we rest in you, Lord Jesus,
Taste your love and touch your power.

Christ, the living bread from heaven,
Christ, whose blood is drink indeed,
Here by faith and with thanksgiving,
In our hearts on you we feed.

By your death for sin atoning,
By your resurrection life,
Hold us fast in joyful union;
Strengthen us to face the strife;

While in joyful holy radiance
Shines the feast that is to come
After conflict, toil, and testing
Your great feast of love and home!

Hark! a herald voice is calling (Merton) – Organ & Trumpet Descant

Lyrics

Suggested uses include: Advent and the Baptism of Chirst.

1. Hark! a herald voice is calling:
‘Christ is nigh,’ it seems to say;
‘Cast away the dreams of darkness,
O ye children of the day!’

2. Startled at the solemn warning,
Let the earth-bound soul arise;
Christ, her Sun, all sloth dispelling,
Shines upon the morning skies.

3. Lo! the Lamb, so long expected,
Comes with pardon down from heaven;
Let us haste, with tears of sorrow,
One and all to be forgiven;

4. So when next he comes with glory,
Wrapping all the earth in fear,
May he then as our defender
Of the clouds of heaven appear.

5. Honour, glory, virtue, merit,
To the Father and the Son,
With the co-eternal Spirit,
While unending ages run.

Lyrics by an unknown 6th Century author, translated by Edward Caswall (1814 – 1878). Public Domain.

The King of love my shepherd is (Dominus Regit Me)

Lyrics

The King of love my shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His
And He is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow
My ransomed soul He leadeth,
And where the verdant pastures grow
With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love He sought me,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home rejoicing brought me.

In death’s dark vale I fear no ill
With Thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spread’st a table in my sight;
Thy unction grace bestoweth;
And O what transport of delight
From Thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never:
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise
Within Thy house forever.

Firmly I Believe And Truly (Shipston) – Organ

Lyrics ~ 5 verses

Meter: 87 87

Firmly I believe and truly
God is Three, and God is One;
And I next acknowledge duly
Manhood taken by the Son.

And I trust and hope most fully
In that Manhood crucified;
And each thought and deed unruly
Do to death, as He has died.

Simply to His grace and wholly
Light and life and strength belong,
And I love supremely, solely,
Him the holy, Him the strong.

And I hold in veneration,
For the love of Him alone,
Holy Church as His creation,
And her teachings are His own.

Adoration aye be given,
With and through the angelic host,
To the God of earth and Heaven,
Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Hymn – Father, hear the prayer we offer – Lyrics

Father, hear the prayer we offer:
Not for ease that prayer shall be,
But for strength that we may ever
Live our lives courageously.

Not for ever in green pastures
Do we ask our way to be;
But the steep and rugged pathway
May we tread rejoicingly.

Not for ever by still waters
Would we idly rest and stay;
But would smith the living fountains
From the rocks along our way.

Be our strength in hours of weakness,
In our wanderings be our guide;
Through endeavour, failure, danger,
Father, be thou at our side.
