O Spirit Of The Living God (Winchester New, Organ, 5 verses)

O Spirit Of The Living God Lyrics

1 O Spirit of the living God,
in all the fullness of your grace,
wherever human feet have trod,
descend upon our fallen race.

2 Give tongues of fire and hearts of love
to preach the reconciling word;
anoint with power from heaven above
whenever gospel truth is heard.

3 Let darkness turn to radiant light,
confusion vanish from your path;
those who are weak inspire with might:
let mercy triumph over wrath!

4 O Spirit of our God, prepare
the whole wide world the Lord to meet;
breathe out new life, like morning air,
till hearts of stone begin to beat.

5 Baptize the nations; far and near
the triumphs of the cross record;
till Christ in glory shall appear
and every race declare him Lord!

All Beautiful The March Of Days (Forest Green – 3 Verses) – Organ

All Beautiful The March Of Days Lyrics

1. All beautiful the march of days,
As seasons come and go.
The hand that shaped the rose has wrought
The crystal of the snow,
Has sent the hoary frost of heav’n,
The flowing waters sealed,
And laid a silent loveliness
On hill and wood and field.

2. O’er white expanses, sparkling pure,
The radiant morns unfold;
The solemn splendours of the night
Burn brighter through the cold.
Life mounts in ev’ry throbbing vein,
Love deepens round the hearth,
And clearer sounds the angel hymn,
“Good will to all on earth.”

3. O God, from whose unfathomed Law
The year in beauty flows,
Yourself the vision passing by
In crystal and in rose,
Day unto day shall utter speech,
And night to night proclaim,
In ever changing words of light,
The wonder of your name.

Meter: DCM. Lyricist: Frances Whitmarsh Wile (1878 -1939). Public Domain.

Praise The Lord Ye Heavens Adore Him (Austria – 3 Verses) – Organ

Praise The Lord Ye Heavens Adore Him Lyrics

Praise the Lord, ye heavens, adore Him!
Praise Him, angels in the height;
Sun and moon, rejoice before Him,
Praise Him, all ye stars of light.
Praise the Lord, for He hath spoken;
Worlds His mighty voice obeyed:
Laws, which never shall be broken,
For their guidance He hath made.

Praise the Lord, for He is glorious:
Never shall His promise fail.
God hath made His saints victorious;
Sin and death shall not prevail.
Praise the God of our salvation,
Hosts on high, His power proclaim;
Heaven and earth and all creation,
Laud and magnify His Name.

Worship, honour, glory, blessing,
Lord, we offer to Thy name.
Young and old, Thy praise expressing,
Join their Saviour to proclaim:
As the saints in heaven adore Thee,
We would bow before Thy throne,
As Thine angels serve before Thee,
So on earth Thy will be done.

A Carolling! A Carolling! (Ellacombe – 3 Verses) – Organ

A Carolling! A Carolling! Lyrics

A carolling! A carolling!
Sing of the Saviour’s birth;
Of shepherds and of angels,
Of peace on all the Earth.
A carolling! A carolling!
The songs so full of joy.
Sing with the heav’nly choir above
That praised the infant boy.

A carolling! A carolling!
Sing of the guiding star;
Of shepherds and of wise men
Of how they journeyed far.
A carolling! A carolling!
Sing of that glorious day
When God came down to our world,
A baby in the hay.

A carolling! A carolling!
A story of God’s love:
The Christ child in the manger,
Who came from up above.
A carolling! A carolling!
Our song will never end,
Till every person, everywhere,
Knows Jesus Christ as friend.

O Love How Deep (Eisenach, Organ, 6 Verses)

O Love How Deep Lyrics

O love, how deep, how broad, how high!
How passing thought and fantasy,
That God, the Son of God, should take
Our mortal form for mortals’ sake!

He sent no angel to our race
Of higher power or lower place,
But wore the robe of human frame
Himself, and this lost world came.

For us baptized, for us he bore
His holy fast and hunger sore;
For us temptations sharp he knew,
For us the tempter overthrew.

For us to wicked men betrayed,
Scourged, mocked, in crown of thorns arrayed;
For us he bore the cross’s death,
For us at length gave up his breath.

For us he rose from death again,
For us he went on high to reign;
For us he sent his Spirit here
To guide, to strengthen, and to cheer.

All honor, laud, and glory be,
O Jesus, virgin-born, to thee;
whom with the Father we adore,
and Holy Ghost, forevermore.

Now My Tongue, The Mystery Telling (Grafton – 6 verses, Organ)

Now My Tongue, The Mystery Telling Lyrics

This recording of Now My Tongue, The Mystery Telling has been made to accompany singers in Church Services.

Now, my tongue, the mystery telling
Of the glorious body sing,
And the blood, all price excelling,
Which the Gentiles’ Lord and King,
In a Virgin’s womb once dwelling,
Shed for this world’s ransoming.

Given for us, and condescending
To be born for us below,
He, with us in converse blending,
Dwelt the seed of truth to sow,
‘Til he closed with wondrous ending
His most patient life of woe.

That last night, at supper lying,
‘Mid the Twelve, his chosen band,
Jesus, with the law complying,
Keeps the feast its rites demand;
Then, more precious food supplying,
Gives himself with his own hand.

Word-made-flesh, true bread he maketh
By his word his flesh to be,
Wine his blood; which whoso taketh
Must from carnal thoughts be free:
Faith alone, though sight forsaketh,
Shows true hearts the mystery.

Therefore we, before him bending,
This great sacrament revere:
Types and shadows have their ending,
For the newer rite is here;
Faith, our outward sense befriending,
Makes our inward vision clear.

Glory let us give and blessing
To the Father and the Son,
Honour, might, and praise addressing,
While eternal ages run;
Ever too his love confessing,
Who, from both, with both is One.

Lord Who Throughout These Forty Days (Saint Flavian, Organ, 5 verses)

Lord Who Throughout These Forty Days Lyrics

This recording of Lord Who Throughout These Forty Days has been made to accompany singers in Church Services.

1. Lord, who throughout these forty days,
For us did fast and pray,
Teach us with you to mourn our sins,
And close by you to stay.

2. As you with Satan did contend,
And did the vict’ry win,
O give us strength in you to fight,
In you to conquer sin.

3. As you did hunger bear and thirst,
So teach us, gracious Lord,
To die to self, and always live
By your most holy word.

4. And through these days of penitence,
And through your Passiontide,
Forevermore, in life and death,
O Lord, with us abide.

5. Abide with us that when this life
Of suffering is past,
An Easter of unending joy
We may attain at last!

Lectionary And Other Uses

He Sat To Watch O’er Customs Paid (Winchester New, Organ, 6 Verses)

He Sat To Watch O’er Customs Paid Lyrics

Suitable for the Feast of St Matthew

He sat to watch o’er customs paid,
A man of scorned and hardening trade,
Alike the symbol and the tool
Of foreign masters’ hated rule.

But grace within his breast had stirred;
There needed but the timely word:
It came, true Lord of souls, from thee,
That royal summons, ‘Follow me.’

Enough, when thou wast passing by,
To hear thy voice, to meet thine eye:
He rose, responsive to the call,
And left his task, his gains, his all.

O wise exchange! with these to part,
And lay up treasure in the heart –
Who now with crown of light doth shine
Among the apostolic line.

Come, Saviour, as in days of old;
Pass where the world has strongest hold,
And faithless care and selfish greed
Are thorns that choke the holy seed.

Who keep thy gifts, O bid them claim
The steward’s, not the owner’s name;
Who yield up all for thy dear sake,
Let them of Matthew’s wealth partake.
