Scattered Yet Together : Lyrics
1. Scattered, yet together,
We have come to worship You.
Scattered, yet together,
For we know Your word is true!
Word is true! Word is true!
2. Scattered, yet together,
We approach the mercy throne.
Scattered, yet together,
We seek You, and You alone!
You alone! You alone!
3. Scattered, yet together,
Our hearts are low with grief.
Scattered, yet together,
We await Your sweet relief.
Sweet relief! Sweet relief!
4. Scattered, yet together,
Amidst moments of despair.
Scattered, yet together,
You will answer fervent prayer!
Fervent prayer! Fervent prayer!
5. Scattered, yet together,
We hear Your gentle whisper:
My peace I give to you,
I will forsake You never.
Give My peace! Give My peace!
6. Scattered, yet together,
We receive Your Holy Breath.
Scattered, yet together,
New life without knowing death.
Holy Breath! Holy Breath!

Description
“Scattered Yet Together” is one of a series of hymns written by Virgin Island author, Verna Penn Moll. It is a hymn inspired by the global chaos surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 when many Christian communities were scattered by lockdown into isolation in their own homes, but were able to be together in worship which began to be shared online through internet services such as Zoom, YouTube and others.
Verna has edited and written several books and other publications including, Poetic Prayers: Where Cultures Meet, 1999; Methodism: 200 years of Witness 1810-2010, 2010; Land Acquisition by Virgin Islanders, 2000; This Land: A Trust From God, 2014; and Funintun’s Christmas: traditional Christmas Customs of the BVI.
“Scattered Yet Together” has been set to a new tune by Richard Irwin, called “Herdswick”, named after a farm on the beautiful Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire, England where the composer lives. This setting is for Organ. It was recorded and produced by Richard Irwin.
Hymns Without Words™ is a free resource for churches and congregations around the world providing free downloads hymns and carols for use in services.
