Thomas Jarman (1776 – 1861)
Thomas Jarman was an English composer of psalmody and hymns who was born in the village of Clipston, Northamptonshire, the son of a tailor whose profession he followed. He started composition after becoming a member of the Clipston Baptist chapel. His first book of psalmody was called Sacred Music, Comprising Select Hymns (1803-5). Predominantly known for the tune ‘Lyngham’, this was originally had the title ‘Navitity’.
