St Bede The Venerable (673-735)

St Bede The Venerable (673-735) was an English author, poet, musician, scientist, scholar and monk at Northumbrian monastery at Monkwearmouth (now Jarrow) which he joined at the age of seven. He is best known for for his Ecclesiastical History of the English People and for his calculations for the future dates for Easter as well as many other scientific and theological works, as well as poetry and music. He died on Ascension Day in 735 and was buried in Durham Cathedral.
