Priscilla Jane Owens (1829-1899)

Priscilla Jane Owens (1829-1899) was an American song writer and teacher, born in Baltimore, Maryland of Welsh and Scottish descent.

Her hymn Will your anchor hold is the the official anthem of The Boys’ Brigade.

She was active in Sunday School work in her home town of Baltimore For more than fifty years at the Union Square Methodist Episcopal Church. Most of Owen’s hymns and songs were written for Sunday School.
