Richard Godfrey Parsons (1882 – 1948)

Richard Godfrey Parsons (1882 – 1948) was an Anglican bishop abnd liberal scholar, born in Lancashire and educated at Durham School and Magdalen College, Oxford.

Ordained in 1907 he was a curate at Hampstead before he became Chaplain at University College, Oxford, and then Principal of Wells Theological College from 1911-16.

In 1927 he became suffragan Bishop of Middleton, then Bishop of Southwark (1932–41) before being appointed Bishop of Hereford (1941-48).
