St Fulbert of Chartres (952-1028)
St Fulbert of Chartres (952-1028) was a French clergyman, poet and teacher who became Bishop of Chartres from 1006 to 1028 and was responsible for many of the reconstructions of the Chartres Cathedral.
Fulbert was a pupil of Gerbert of Aurillac, who would later become Pope Sylvester II.
Most of Fulbert’s hymns were written to glorify the Virgin, but he also penned “Chorus Novae Jerusalem” (Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem), to be sung at Easter services.
