Rev. Fred Pratt Green (1903-2000) CBE was English Methodist minister and hymnodist, born in Roby, Lancashire, England.
He was ordained as a Methodist minister in 1928 and, starting in the Filey circuit, served circuits in the north and south of England until 1969. During his career as a minister he wrote numerous plays and hymns, but became more prolific after his retirement until 1988. It is said that many of his hymns reflect his rejection fundamentalism.
The Pratt Green Trust was set up from the royalties from his hymns. His scrapbooks and hymnbook collections are now held in the Pratt Green Collection at Durham University.
