O Holy Ghost Thy Peoples Bless (St Timothy, Organ, 6 Verses)

O Holy Ghost Thy Peoples Bless : Lyrics

1. O Holy Ghost, thy people bless
Who long to feel thy might,
And fain would grow in holiness
As children of the light.

2. To thee we bring, who art the Lord,
Ourselves to be thy throne;
Let ev’ry thought and deed and word
Thy pure dominion own.

3. Life-giving Spirit, o’er us move,
As on the formless deep;
Give life and order, light and love,
where now is death or sleep.

4. Great gift of our ascended King,
His saving truth reveal;
Our tongues inspire His praise to sing,
Our hearts his love to feel.

5. True wind of heav’n, from south or north,
For joy or chast’ning, blow;
The garden-spices shall spring forth
If thou wilt bid them flow.

6. O Holy Ghost, of sev’nfold might,
All graces come from thee;
Grant us to know and serve aright
One God in Persons Three.

O Love How Deep (Eisenach, Organ, 6 Verses)

O Love How Deep Lyrics

O love, how deep, how broad, how high!
How passing thought and fantasy,
That God, the Son of God, should take
Our mortal form for mortals’ sake!

He sent no angel to our race
Of higher power or lower place,
But wore the robe of human frame
Himself, and this lost world came.

For us baptized, for us he bore
His holy fast and hunger sore;
For us temptations sharp he knew,
For us the tempter overthrew.

For us to wicked men betrayed,
Scourged, mocked, in crown of thorns arrayed;
For us he bore the cross’s death,
For us at length gave up his breath.

For us he rose from death again,
For us he went on high to reign;
For us he sent his Spirit here
To guide, to strengthen, and to cheer.

All honor, laud, and glory be,
O Jesus, virgin-born, to thee;
whom with the Father we adore,
and Holy Ghost, forevermore.

Christ Is The Light Of All The World (Wiltshire, Organ, 4 Verses)

Christ Is The Light Of All The World : Lyrics

Christ is the light of all the world,
Yet with the darkest night;
Lit by His glory and His love,
He turns the dark to light.

Christ came into a world of sin,
To cast the dark away;
He came to bring mankind the light,
And give the brightest day.

He is the light with which we shine,
When we call Him our friend;
He is our Saviour and our Lord,
We’ll serve Him to the end.

We’ll shine for Him in this dark world,
We’ll be a lamp of grace;
We’ll boldly go into the dark
‘Til we stand face to face.

We Pray Thee, Heavenly Father (Dies Dominica, Organ, 4 Verses)

We Pray Thee, Heavenly Father : Lyrics

We pray Thee, heavenly Father, to hear us in Thy love,
And pour upon Thy children the unction from above;
That so in love abiding, from all defilement free,
We may in pureness offer our Eucharist to Thee.

Be Thou our Guide and Helper, O Jesu Christ, we pray;
So may we well approach Thee, if Thou wilt be the Way:
Thou, very Truth, hast promised to help us in our strife,
Food of the weary pilgrim, eternal Source of life.

And Thou, Creator Spirit, look on us, we are Thine;
Renew us in Thy graces, upon our darkness shine;
That, with Thy benediction, upon our souls outpoured,
We may receive in gladness the body of the Lord.

O Trinity of Persons! O Unity most high!
On Thee alone relying Thy servants would draw nigh;
Unworthy in our weakness, on Thee our hope is stayed,
And blest by Thy forgiveness we will not be afraid.

I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say (Kingsfold, Organ, 3 Verses)

See Also I heard the voice of Jesus say (Kingsfold) – Woodwind and Strings

Lyrics

Suitable for: Lent, Evensong, General Usage

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down,
Thy head upon My breast.”
I came to Jesus as I was,
Weary and worn and sad;
I found in Him a resting-place,
And He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“Behold, I freely give
The living water; thirsty one,
Stoop down and drink and live.”
I came to Jesus, and I drank
Of that life-giving stream.
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
And now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
“I am this dark world’s Light.
Look unto Me; thy morn shall rise
And all thy day be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found
In Him my Star, my Sun;
And in that Light of Life I’ll walk
Till traveling days are done.

He Who Would Valiant Be (Monks Gate, Orchestra, 3 Verses)

He Who Would Valiant Be : Lyrics

He who would valiant be ’gainst all disaster,
Let him in constancy follow the Master.
There’s no discouragement shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent to be a pilgrim.

Who so beset him round with dismal stories
Do but themselves confound – his strength the more is.
No foes shall stay his might; though he with giants fight,
He will make good his right to be a pilgrim.

Since, Lord, Thou dost defend us with Thy Spirit,
We know we at the end, shall life inherit.
Then fancies flee away! I’ll fear not what men say,
I’ll labour night and day to be a pilgrim.

Original Text by John Bunyan from Pilgrim’s Progress

Who would true valour see, let him come hither;
One here will constant be, come wind, come weather
There’s no discouragement shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent to be a pilgrim.

Whoso beset him round with dismal stories
Do but themselves confound; his strength the more is.
No lion can him fright, he’ll with a giant fight,
He will have a right to be a pilgrim.

Hobgoblin nor foul fiend can daunt his spirit,
He knows he at the end shall life inherit.
Then fancies fly away, he’ll fear not what men say,
He’ll labour night and day to be a pilgrim

For All The Saints (Sine Nomine, Organ & Trumpet Descant, 6 Verses)

For All The Saints : Lyrics

Suitable for the Feast of All Saints.

For all the saints, who from their labours rest,
Who Thee by faith before the world confessed,
Thy Name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well fought fight;
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

O may Thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold,
Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
And win with them the victor’s crown of gold.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
All are one in Thee, for all are Thine.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of glory passes on His way.
Alleluia, Alleluia!

From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast,
Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
And singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, Alleluia!
