To The Name Of Our Salvation (Nomen Salvationis, Organ, 6 verses)

To The Name Of Our Salvation Lyrics

1. To the name of our salvation
Laud and honour let us pay,
Which for many a generation
Hid in God’s foreknowledge lay,
But with holy exultation
We may sing aloud today.

2. Jesus is the name we treasure,
Name beyond what words can tell;
Name of gladness, name of pleasure,
Ear and heart delighting well;
Name of sweetness passing measure,
Saving us from death and hell.

3. ’Tis the name for adoration,
Name for songs of victory,
Name for holy meditation
In this vale of misery,
Name for joyful veneration
By the citizens on high.

4. ’Tis the name that whoso preacheth
Speaks like music to the ear;
Who in prayer this name beseecheth
Sweetest comfort findeth near;
Who its perfect wisdom reacheth
Heavenly joy possesseth here.

5. Jesus is the name exalted
Over every other name;
In this name, whene’re assaulted,
We can put our foes to shame:
Strength to them who else had halted,
Eyes to blind, and feet to lame.

6. Therefore we in love adoring
This most blessed name revere,
Holy Jesu, thee imploring
So to write it in us here,
That hereafter heavenward soaring
We may sing with angels there

Jesus Lives Thy Terrors Now (St Albinus, Organ, 5 Verses)

Jesus Lives Thy Terrors Now Lyrics

Suggested uses include Easter, Lent and Funeral services.

Jesus lives! thy terrors now
Can, O death, no more appal us;
Jesus lives! by this we know
Thou, O grave, canst not enthral us.
Alleluia.

Jesus lives! henceforth is death
But the gate of life immortal:
This shall calm our trembling breath,
When we pass its gloomy portal.
Alleluia.

Jesus lives! for us he died;
Then, alone to Jesus living,
Pure in heart may we abide,
Glory to our Saviour giving.
Alleluia.

Jesus lives! our hearts know well
Naught from us his love shall sever;
Life nor death nor powers of hell
Tear us from his keeping ever.
Alleluia.

Jesus lives! to him the throne
Over all the world is given:
May we go where he is gone,
Rest and reign with him in heaven.
Alleluia.

All for Jesus Great Redeemer (Beecher, Organ, 2 Verses)

All for Jesus Great Redeemer Lyrics

All for Jesus, great Redeemer,
I surrender heart and soul;
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
He’s restored me, made me whole.
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
I am His throughout my days;
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
I will live a life of praise.

All for Jesus, gracious Saviour,
Till I meet Him face to face;
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
Stand restored by divine grace.
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
Voice and hands to Him I raise;
All for Jesus, all for Jesus,
I will sing eternal praise!

Canon John Raphael Peacey (1896-1971) was an English clergyman, hymn writer and cricketer. Born in Hove, Sussex, England, the son of a bishop and the youngest of ten children. He graduated from Selwyn College, Cambridge, in 1921 with honors in Theology. Peacey made his first-class debut for Sussex against Cambridge University in 1920.

He served as headmaster of a school in Calcutta, India, in the 30s and remained there through the war years. Returning to England in 1945, he settled in Bristol on the staff of the Cathedral where he was appointed a Canon. During his lifetime, Peacey wrote just 18 hymn texts which were published posthumously in 1991 under the title Go Forth For God which was released by the Hope Publishing Company (Code No. 1036).  He died at Hurstpierpoint, Sussex on 31 October 1971.

On A Hill Far Away (The Old Rugged Cross, Organ, 4 Verses)

On A Hill Far Away Lyrics

1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
and I love that old cross where the dearest and best
for a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
and exchange it some day for a crown.

2. O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
has a wondrous attraction for me;
for the dear Lamb of God left his glory above
to bear it to dark Calvary. Refrain

3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
a wondrous beauty I see,
for ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
to pardon and sanctify me. Refrain

4. To that old rugged cross I will ever be true,
its shame and reproach gladly bear;
then he’ll call me some day to my home far away,
where his glory forever I’ll share. Refrain

Abide With Me (Eventide, Brass Band, 5 Verses)

See also version for Organ

Abide With Me Lyrics

1. Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see—
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

3. I need Thy presence every passing hour;
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s pow’r?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

4. I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness;
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

5. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies;
Heav’n’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go (St Margaret, Organ, 4 Verses)

O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go Lyrics

This recording of O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go has been made to accompany singers in Church Services.

1. O Love that will not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

2. O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

3. O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.

4. O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.
